I agree to your points about Google Wave being another window, and the “dedicated” wave clients like waveboard still lacks some speed and usability to be as good as Chrome.

However, the concept, as you say, is great. Where I work, we've come to adopt Google Wave as our primary communication tool internally, and have also started testing it out with some of our customers. The whole idea behind Wave is a bit too new for some of our customers, but others are getting comfortable real fast.

Google Wave already gives us CRM (Tracking leads, contracts etc), Knowledge Base (Best practices, routines) and the daily “oh, have you read this cool article?” posts that we used to send on IM clients or mail. I've sent about 3 internal mails since October

I've got an account, but without any sort of notification system, I rarely remember to check it. A time I used it was when I was planning a trip to Chicago last month. Me and my buddies Waved away and planned the thing out. It was pretty useful then. As for everyday sort of use, I can't think of much reason to use it. It's more for collaboration and project building, you know?

I'm not holding my breath on Google getting Wave out of beta anytime before say 2015 (hello gmail was in beta for ages).

I also don't know if it will ever be too much of my communications workflow unless it is possible to use it with some sort of desktop client. Seeing how that runs contrary to Google's apparent business model, I may not ever use it.

I agree with your comments and criticisms about Wave. I use only occasionally for these same reasons. But it is truly Beta and I hope these things are coming and those who are active early will probably get the advantage, if any is to be had.
